Kamairicha (釜炒り茶) 100g — Kumamoto, Japan
Discover a rare style of Japanese green tea with Kamairicha (釜炒り茶)—a pan-fired green tea from Kumamoto Prefecture. Unlike most Japanese green teas that are steamed, kamairicha is gently roasted in an iron pan (“kama”), a traditional method that creates a uniquely comforting aroma and a smooth, rounded taste.
In the cup, you’ll notice a soft toasty fragrance with notes that can feel like roasted nuts, warm grains, and subtle sweetness, followed by a mellow green-tea body and a clean finish. Because the leaves are pan-fired, the flavor is often less grassy and less sharp than typical sencha, making it very approachable—even for people who find green tea too bitter.
Kamairicha is wonderful as an everyday tea, pairs easily with meals, and can also be enjoyed chilled for a refreshing roasted-green-tea character.
